Sexton Vineyard, near Yarra Yering and Coldstream Hills, appealed most of all. It's a multi-dimensional wine, based on vivid, luscious nectarine- and grapefruit-like varietal flavour. These thread through a sensuous, slick-textured but exceptionally fine, dry palate.
GIANTS IN THEIR FIELD, For Justin Grounds of Giant Steps, it was the combination of the art and science in winemaking that first appealed to him. Now as Senior Winemaker, he favours a process as close to natural as possible. They even have a purpose-built gravity flow winery, to minimise mechanical intervention. Justin is not afraid to experiment and develop, and aims for continual evolution in style. He loves to see the progression from fruit on a vine, to wine in a bottle, and loves to share his wine and process with visitors to the winery.
